Add DNS records in Wix
Exact steps for Wix — note the root record is left BLANK, not "@".
You can only edit DNS at Wix if your domain is registered with Wix or connected by Name Servers. If it’s connected by “Pointing,” you must edit these records at your actual registrar, not Wix.
Get to your DNS settings
- Go to your Wix account and open “Domains”.
- Click the “⋯” (Domain Actions) next to your domain and choose “Manage DNS records”.
- Find the section for the record type you’re adding and click “+ Add Record”.
- Enter the Host Name and Value, then save. Add SPF under the TXT section.
The Wix gotcha: for the root record, LEAVE THE HOST NAME BLANK — do not type "@". If a guide says to enter "@", Wix wants it empty instead. For subdomains enter just the label, e.g. "focal._domainkey".
The #1 mistake: don’t type your full domain in the host/name field. When we ask for a record named "focal._domainkey.yourdomain.com", you enter only "focal._domainkey". Almost every DNS provider adds your domain back on automatically — type the whole thing and you get "focal._domainkey.yourdomain.com.yourdomain.com", which silently fails. Enter only the part before your domain, and use "@" (or leave it blank — see your provider below) for the root.
The "www" host is reserved by Wix (it’ll say “Hostname already in use”). Leave TTL on its managed default.
